    In each conference only the three biggest programs by titles, recruiting, and blue-blood weight are eligible — e.g. SEC is Alabama, Georgia, Texas. Not this year’s AP poll.

    Among those three fixtures, take the wolf facing the weakest opponent: FCS, unranked, laid points, home. Example: Alabama vs ECU, Georgia vs Tennessee State, Texas vs Texas State → Tennessee State is the softest, so Georgia is the SEC’s #1.

    One pick per conference, then those 10 winners are re-ranked by opponent weakness. The slip is that ranking — Ohio State vs Ball State sits above a wolf that drew another P4.
